Who We Are
Radar Consultancy is a specialist advisory firm focused on peace, security and sustainable development in the Horn of Africa. We identify critical insights, design targeted initiatives, and deliver bespoke solutions to promote peace, security and sustainable development in fragile and conflict-affected regions.
We provide grounded, innovative, multi-disciplinary capabilities, with field teams and partners able to access hard-to-reach areas and experts engaging at strategic and operational levels. We partner with government and non-governmental agencies, research institutions, grassroots civil society organisations and private sector actors.
Our organisational model focuses on building long-term, meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships with partners beyond the requirements of single projects. We recognise that nothing replaces local knowledge and invest our time and energy in connecting with uniquely driven and experienced researchers from the countries we work in.

Founding Team
Abdirashid Fidow
Founder
Abdirashid brings fifteen years of frontline experience spanning conflict-affected states, security sector reform and international development. His advisory work has taken him across Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan and the wider East Africa region, where he has supported governments, bilateral donors and multilateral agencies on stabilisation, countering violent extremism and institutional accountability. He has directed complex, multi-country programmes — including a $7.5 million human rights portfolio — and managed significant grant portfolios to civil society organisations in the UK. He has contributed to national security and community safety frameworks, serving on the Metropolitan Police Community Advisory Panel and the London Counter Terrorism Advisory Group. Abdirashid holds an MA in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies from King's College London and a BA in Global Politics and International Relations from Birkbeck, University of London.
Tariq Al-Rashidi
Partner & Co-Founder
Tariq has 18 years of experience in socio-economic research, programme design and monitoring and evaluation across the Middle East, Horn of Africa and East Africa. He has led large-scale research and evaluation platforms for US, UK and EU agencies in Yemen, Somalia and Sudan, with a particular focus on conflict economies, displacement and sub-national governance. He has built and managed mixed-methods research teams of 50+ staff across multiple country offices. Tariq holds an MA in International Development from the London School of Economics and a postgraduate diploma in Research Methods.
Callum Forsythe
Partner & Co-Founder
Callum brings 20 years of experience in strategic analysis, capacity development and security sector reform across fragile and conflict-affected states. He spent over a decade in the UK public sector as a senior analyst and team leader before moving into international development, where he has designed and delivered capacity-building programmes in Somalia, South Sudan and the wider East Africa region. He has operated in complex multi-agency environments throughout his career and holds an MA in Security and Conflict Studies. He is a former visiting fellow at a leading UK defence and security research institute.
Our Approach
We integrate granular field research with open-source and remote sensing data analysis to inform and advise clients. Our primary source access is complemented and reinforced through rigorous analytical frameworks developed over years of operating in complex environments.
We are a globally distributed team. Our partners and experts reside across our countries of operation — Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan and the United Kingdom. We believe that local knowledge is irreplaceable and structure our partnerships accordingly — investing in long-term relationships with researchers and practitioners from the countries we work in.
